A Shopify uniqueness error can refer to two different fields: the discount code or the discount title. Read the exact error before editing the promotion because each field has a different purpose.

## Discount code and discount title are different

A discount code is the text a shopper enters to redeem a code-based offer. A discount title is the customer-facing label shown in the cart and at checkout for an automatic discount. Shopify requires the conflicting value to be unique within the store.

## Fix a duplicate discount code

1. Open Shopify Admin and go to Discounts.
2. Find the discount that already uses the code entered in AIOD.
3. Keep the existing discount and choose a different code for the new offer, or edit or delete the existing discount only if it is no longer needed.
4. Return to AIOD, enter the unique code, and save again.

## Fix a duplicate discount title

1. Note the title shown in AIOD's error message or Discount title field.
2. Open Shopify Admin and go to Discounts.
3. Find the discount that already uses that title.
4. Keep the existing discount and enter a different customer-facing title in AIOD, or edit or delete the old discount only if it is no longer needed.
5. Save the AIOD discount again.

Change only the field named in the error. A title error does not require a new discount code, and a code error does not require a new title.

## If the error remains

Check the complete Discounts list for an older discount using the same value, confirm the new value is actually different, and save again. If the conflicting discount still cannot be identified, contact AIOD support with the exact error message and the title or code being saved.

Shopify does not allow two discounts in the same store to use the same redeemable code. Choose another code or remove the old discount only when it is no longer needed.
