# Create a free gift with a minimum spend

> Configure and test an AIOD Free Gift with Purchase offer that unlocks after the cart reaches a minimum amount.

Use a minimum-spend free gift when you want the gift to become available only after the cart subtotal reaches a set amount.

## Create the offer

1. Open **AIOD – All-in-One Discount** in Shopify admin.

2. Go to **Discount Templates**.

3. Select **Free Gift**.

4. Choose the minimum purchase amount the customer must reach.

5. Select the product or variant that will be used as the gift.

6. Choose how the gift is claimed:
   * **Automatic**: the offer runs when its conditions are met.
   * **Discount code**: the customer must enter the configured code.

7. Review the active dates, usage limits, customer eligibility, and combination settings.

8. Save the discount.

If the storefront gift widget is part of the offer, make sure AIOD's **Latest Widget Manager** app embed is enabled in the live theme.

## Test before announcing the promotion

Open the storefront in a private or incognito window and test both sides of the threshold:

1. Add products whose subtotal is below the minimum. The gift should not be available.
2. Increase the subtotal to the minimum. The gift should become available or be added, depending on the configuration.
3. Reduce the subtotal again. Confirm the gift and messaging update correctly.
4. Continue to checkout and confirm the expected discount is applied.

## If the gift does not appear

Check that the discount is active, the selected gift variant is available, the cart meets every condition, and the correct discount method is being tested. Also confirm that the theme app embed is enabled and saved on the published theme.
