AIOD Automatic Discount & Gift ("AIOD", "we", "our") is a Shopify app that enables merchants to create and manage discounts, promotional offers, and free gift logic on their storefront.

This Privacy Policy describes how AIOD processes personal data in connection with the use of the app.

1. Scope and Roles

For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR, the merchant is the data controller and AIOD acts as a data processor, processing personal data solely on behalf of the merchant and in accordance with their instructions.

This policy applies only to data processed via Shopify in connection with the app. Shopify acts as an independent controller for its own services.

AIOD acts as a data processor and processes personal data only on documented merchant instructions.
Processing is carried out based on the merchant's legal basis under applicable privacy laws.

2. Data Processed

AIOD processes limited data strictly necessary to provide app functionality.

We do not intentionally process sensitive personal data. Payment and checkout information is handled directly by Shopify and is not processed by AIOD.

AIOD does not maintain independent customer profiles or long-term storage of personal data outside what is necessary to operate the app.

Store and configuration data related to discount setup and rules
Product and catalog context required for applying offers
Cart and order context required to evaluate and apply discounts
Limited customer-related attributes made available via Shopify APIs when required for discount logic

3. Purpose of Processing

AIOD does not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or process it for purposes beyond the merchant's instructions.

Configure and apply discounts and promotional logic
Render storefront elements such as gift offers and progress indicators
Execute logic through Shopify APIs
Maintain and improve app performance and reliability

4. Data Access and Shopify Integration

AIOD accesses data through Shopify APIs based on permissions granted during installation. Processing is limited to the minimum data required to deliver app functionality and is performed within Shopify's ecosystem wherever possible.

5. Data Retention

Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service
Technical logs may be retained for a limited period for debugging and system integrity
Upon uninstall, merchant data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable timeframe unless legal or security retention is required

6. Subprocessors

AIOD uses a limited number of subprocessors to provide infrastructure, analytics, and operational support. All subprocessors are contractually bound to data protection obligations and process data only as necessary to provide their services.

7. International Data Transfers

Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, AIOD relies on appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms and compliant infrastructure providers.

8. Security Measures

9. Data Subject Rights

Because AIOD acts as a processor, data subject requests should be directed to the merchant as controller. AIOD assists merchants in fulfilling such requests where required.

10. Data Processing Agreement

A Data Processing Agreement governs the processing of personal data by AIOD and forms part of the use of the app. For access to the DPA or execution of a signed version, please contact us through support.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
